Ben Day dots Dylan

Been thinking a lot about using process colours and giant comic book style techniques to do a caricature or portrait. I love the way they look when printed up really big, like Lichtenstien does, but a bit more grungy.

This is a Bob Dylan portrait. I just finished reading a 450+ page book of Dylan interviews... He is a pretty mysterious and enigmatic character.

I am going to do a better portrait or maybe more of a caricature, but this worked as a proof of concept for the technique.

Here is a detail showing what it looks like up close.

Modigliani rocks

I was reading this great book on Modigliani and decided to draw one of his early sculptures using a new brush I had made from rock textures.

2011!

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!

Wow, 2011 already.

I've had a great Xmas and New Year, pretty family orientated.
Heading into the new year and looking into getting some work to help pay the bills.
I am also getting geared up for our graduating students exhibition at the Thousand Pound Bend gallery. I have been working on Zbrush and that is going well, I will be posting some of that work on the blog soon.

Above is a rough sketch of a summer Roo BBQ.
