Isometric cube-land with dimensional pattern... rough idea

I was revisiting my tiled patterns and wondered if I could add some dimension to it. Here is what happened.

1) Put a tiled square onto the surface of an isometric cube.

2) Seemed interesting so I grabbed a few other tiles, a bit rough around the edges ...

3) I tried using just shading on the pattern to give some dimension.

4) And tried the same in colour but it didn't quite work...

5) ... it needed some background shading to help...

6) ...and here with flat pattern on shaded background

7) But it seemed most interesting when I offset the background. Three tones in the whole thing!

3D type

Here is a type thing that was put together in Zbrush. Definitely want to do more type stuff in Zbrush.
I was thinking this looks a bit like it could be some kind of Arabic or Yiddish or something...

Scott Patton Zbrush giant tutorial

This is a great tutorial - 3D Character Design Volume one.

I am only into the early stages but learning heaps from Scott Patton in this Gnomon tutorial. It really explains the process of making a creature using Zbrush.  Yeah I know it looks a bit silly at this point but wait till I get him properly posed and proportioned.

Lot of good tips and tricks. Still got a long way to go so I will post updates as they are done...

Jose Da Silva Zbrush tutorial

I have been working through some tutorials for Zbrush and Cinema 4D.
This first one is a drinking armadillo. It was from a great tutorial by Jose Da Silva  and was mostly done in Zbrush, with the bottle being made and rendered in Cinema 4D. Still has a long way to go with the high detail texturing of the skin and better painting, but I have learnt a lot from it so far.

A Zbrush dragon doodle

Here is a little Zbrush doodle of a dragon.

I have been learning the program for a while now and I am starting to be able to bend it to my will.
