here is an illustration I did recently for the UX mastery website, who I have been doing several illustrations a week for, over the past few months.
Hope you had a good one...

Troublesome cubist painting...
Still not quite there but getting closer....
Never done a painting like this before, could maybe have left it a few sessions ago...

Cat spray stencil & linocut
Here is a unique print I did a while ago. I have to find all the bits again and do a series as it proved popular and I only made 3-4 impressions...

Abstract Painting
A recent sort of surreal/abstract painting.
I thought I had lost this blog when I shut down my website (Nov 2018) but it's still here...
Fantastic! This is where I will put all my recent artwork. Enjoy.

2018 - New Year / New Pattern
Here is a new repeating pattern I have been working on... with some bright colours behind it, it looks a bit 60's. Would make cool black and white lined tiles ...

Birthday fun
I am in the middle of reading the biography of Saul Steinberg, who I have always thought was one of the 20th centuries greatest artists, cartoonist, visual philosopher and all around master draftsman.
Been looking at lots of his work online and today I had a play making a Steinberg style landscape with stamps... It was fun.

Isometric cube-land with dimensional pattern... rough idea
I was revisiting my tiled patterns and wondered if I could add some dimension to it. Here is what happened.
1) Put a tiled square onto the surface of an isometric cube.
2) Seemed interesting so I grabbed a few other tiles, a bit rough around the edges ...
3) I tried using just shading on the pattern to give some dimension.
4) And tried the same in colour but it didn't quite work...
5) ... it needed some background shading to help...
6) ...and here with flat pattern on shaded background
7) But it seemed most interesting when I offset the background. Three tones in the whole thing!

Cubist Pen testing
Hi all,
Now, i am not really a supporter of Smiggle stationary. In the past I have found their pencils to be more wax than colour and their pens to be more filler than pigment.
Last week my daughter Charlotte, spent a whole 5 dollars at a smiggle store and got a grip of coloured ball point pens. I liked the colour range so thought i would try them out.
Here are the results. They are good colours and flow quite well...go figure.

I was happy with those little tests so went on to do something a little bigger.
Rare fun to be had with ballpoint pens!

Back on the Blog
Hi everyone....anyone?
Sorry, it has been a while since my last blog post. I am trying to get more artwork up here on a more regular basis. I have been really busy doing whiteboard animation work. I'm thinking about a whole new website, this one is about 5 years old and getting a bit stale.
Anyway I am going to kick it off with a few repeating patterns I have been getting into.

Layered Landscape
Here is another in the layered landscape theme. I was trying to get it as bright and saturated as possible but still easy to read...

Another simple vector bush background
Spending some spare time coming up with new and easier ways to make simple, bold bush landscapes in illustrator... Oh and designing more roo characters of course.

A few autoportraits
I am busy applying for jobs and so need to update my business card. I have been playing with a few self-portraits...might be a bit cartoony for a business card though. Would you employ this creep?

Hazy Bushscape
I was doing another landscape and was trying to give it a heap more atmosphere and haze...might have gone a bit too far, but I have a bunch of new photoshop brushes that were fun to play with.
